A little explanation for those who don’t know..
Chaos Groove is a brand new version of Chaos in development! Chaos was written by Julian Gollop and is one of the best games available on the Spectrum. It has since been ported to various computers and consoles including the Atari ST, Amiga, PC and Game Boy Advance.
I’ve previously done a faithful remake called Chaos Funk, but this new game really is the next generation of Chaos. It will feature higher resolution fully anti-aliased gfx, suitable for a 1280 x 960 or 1280 x 1024 screenmode (smaller screenmodes will be supported as well). It will also feature modern gfx effects and will use either OpenGL or DirectX 7 for maximum compatablility.
There will be data driven support for different graphic sets, different sound sets and different creature and spell packs. This makes the game more customisable and lets people make their own game ‘types’.
In addition, Chaos Groove will feature a more modern user interface with features such as automatic highlighting of squares for spells, movements and attacks, while featuring full pathfinding for both human and AI players. More game modes and options will be included as well as possibly experimental net play!
